FAQ'S

1. What is an Interpersonal Process Group?

An interpersonal process group is a powerful form of therapy where a small number of individuals meet regularly under the guidance of a trained therapist.

While approaches to group therapy can vary, all aim to create a safe, supportive, and cohesive space to explore personal, relational, and societal challenges.

3. What are the benefits of group therapy?

Better understand yourself and your emotional patterns

Improve the way you relate to others

Gain tools for coping with life’s challenges

Experience meaningful connection and support

Over time, members not only gain deeper self-awareness but also become a supportive community for one another. (AGPA, 2024)

5. What kinds of concerns come up in group?

Anxiety in social situations or group settings

Difficulty trusting others or opening up

Low self-esteem

Life transitions

Fear of being judged, rejected, or misunderstood

Tendency to put others’ needs before your own

Struggles with setting or respecting boundaries

Challenges with expressing anger, sadness, or vulnerability

Feeling invisible, overlooked, or not taken seriously

Tendency to withdraw or stay quiet instead of engaging

2. How does it work?

Group therapy offers a space to share concerns, gain deeper insight into your own experiences, and learn from others. As members build trust, they support one another through honest dialogue, reflection, and mutual understanding.

4. How long is a session and how often does the group meet?

Each session is 90 minutes, and the group comes together weekly. This gives everyone the time and space to share their thoughts, feelings, and goals openly.

6. How do I know if a process group is for me?

A process group acts as a microcosm of your everyday life. How you interact in the group often reflects the roles you take on in your family, workplace, and community. This creates a unique opportunity to notice and work on interpersonal patterns in real time.

Do you often put others’ needs before your own?

Do you try to control outcomes or the people around you?

Is it challenging for you to be vulnerable or ask for help?

If any of these resonate, a process group could be a meaningful space for growth, connection, and support.
